Taking care of your candle
All of our candles are lovingly hand-made and hand-poured near Basingstoke, England. While we strive for consistency, each candle is unique, making them truly special.
To ensure the best performance and longevity of your candle, it's essential to follow these tips:
-
Allow a couple of hours for your candle to burn during each use. This ensures that the pool of melted wax spreads evenly across the entire surface, preventing 'tunnelling' and maximizing the hot scent throw you desire. Aim for a 'melt pool' of 2-3 mm on the first burn.
-
As a general rule, allow approximately 30 minutes per centimeter of candle size. For instance, it may take about 2.5 hours for a 20cl candle and 3.5 hours for a 30cl candle to achieve a full melt pool to the edge of the glass.
-
Our waxed cotton wicks are crucial to the candle's performance. Trim the wicks when the candle is completely cold, ideally to a length of 3-5 mm to prevent smoking. On the first burn, a slightly longer wick is acceptable.
-
Always trim the wick when the candle is cold, as any residue will easily blow off. Avoid attempting this when the candle is hot.
-
When extinguishing the flame, use a candle snuffer to avoid smoking of the wick and ensure a clean burn each time.
